Comparison of emotional regulation strategies and psychological well-being of MS patients and non-patients people

Background and aims: People with MS in addition to physical problems experienced numerous psychological problems making the living conditions more difficult for them. The aim of this study was comparison of emotional regulation strategies and psychological well-being of MS patients and non-patient people.
Methods: The aprroach of the current study was causal-comparative. Statistical society was all MS patients in Sina hospital and members of MS society that 30 MS patients were selected randomly. Statistical society of healthy people was the people on the same region that are selected by convevience sampling method and homogenized in the terms of age, sex and education level. The data collection tools are CERQ Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and psychological well-being questionnaire of reef. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used to compare two groups of multiple sclerosis patients and normal people in terms of scores of emotional regulation and psychological well-being.
Results: Based on the results, psychological well-being components in normal people are significantly more than MS patients. Also, there is a significant difference between two groups of MS patients and normal people in terms of emotional regulation components.
Conclusion: The results show that there is a significant difference between people suffereing from MS and ordinary people based on their self-acceptance, autonomy, individual developememnt, being purposeful in life, having good relations with others and having control over the environment. The abovementioned elements in ordinary people are more than people suffering MS.
