Comparing the effectivness of Natived Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (nMBCT) according to Iranian- Islamic culture and Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on blood presure

Background and aims: In recent years, the use of psychological techniques developed to control blood pressure. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the effects of (nMBCT) according to
Iranian- Islamic culture and (CBT) on blood pressure of staff.

Methods: In this semiexperimental research, 54 services employees of water and sanitation, electricity and telecommunications in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari were selected and randomly assigned into 2 experimental and control groups (18 subjects in each group). The first experimental group received 8 sessions of natived mindfulness based cognitive training (nMBCT), while the second experimental group received 8 sessions of cognitive- behavioral training (CBT), each session took 120 minutes. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance.

Results: The results showed that no significant deference between experimental and control groups in Systolic and diastolic blood pressure in pretest, but revealed that nMBCT and CBT methods were effective in reducing of blood pressure, as compared with the control group in posttest and follow up (P<0.01). In addition, it was found that in the post-test, nMBCT effect on reducing blood pressure is higher than CBT, but in the follow-up period, there was no significant difference between them (P>0.01).

Conclusion: It was concluded that the methods of psychotherapy, especially nMBCT have a lasting impression on decreasing staff blood pressure.
